coast to coast coins.com RIPOFF DEALER

I recently ordered a coin ( pillar dollar 8 reale silver dated 1751, for $375.00 supposedly in Extra Fine rated condition) What they sent me the first time was an inferior coin that wasn't  close to the quality that was pictured on the website, I sent back the inferior coin and gave them a chance to send an equal quality coin as shown or the actual coin that was pictured on the website, the replacement coin was worse than the first coin they sent, I returned the second inferior coin and asked for them to cover my shipping /insuring costs (approx. $21.00) they refused, I called several times to speak to management and supervisors about the ripoff to no avail! I want to warn everyone from purchasing coins or collectables from this unscrupulous "dealer". I gave them 3 chances in total to send me an extra fine rated coin as described and pictured on their site and they sent me GARBAGE! don't waste your time or money dealing with this company! They still have the coin I wanted and expected to receive on the site at a higher price now ($399.00) and I am sure what they would send an honest buyer another of their inferior coins worth considerably less than the quality coin they show you. Both replacement coins they sent to me were poor quality, heavily worn, and discolured, I think the rating they apply to their "merchandise is rated by their own "self appointed authority". One of the coins they sent me was cracked to boot! DON'T BE FOOLED AND DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH THESE LOSERS.

cavy,
Here are two obvious nitwits who have done business
with a company they HATE...more than once.

Everytning I have received ftom this company has been equal to, or above stated quality.

Ignore dumb asses.

Jenvy,
Cavy- I'm with you on this one. I have enjoyed doing business with this company for quite a while now...Maybe these two above us are just beginning to collect...

John,
Bought several items from them. Never had a problem. Everyone has an opinion. I never judge something without trying it myself.

B.P..L,
I've been ordering from this company for over a year now. I have had a couple of problens(late shipment, wrong coin)but problems were taken care of in a timely maner and I was refunded the cost of shipping on the item returned. I will keep ordering as time goes on.

marc,
i ordered a lot of gold and recently proof dollars and halves. also foreign silver coins, etc. the only coin i didn't think measured up was a 1500-1600 hungarian Madonna and Child for $7.
their proofs are much better than some i got from ebay. coast to coast always gives excellent service.
2010-01-11 19:13:05
rdcuff,
I have done business with this company at least 6 times in the past and never had a problem

retrpd95,
I have done business with Coast to Coast for over 5 years. Everything I have purchased has been equal to or above advertised quality. I have been collecting and selling coins for 39 years so I am not new to this. Remember one thing, you get what you pay for, hole fillers or high end coins. Your not going to buy a 1907 Double Eagle in MS64 for $250! But you might buy a 2.5 gold Indian in AU for that price.
So, just think before you spend that freshly printed funny Obama money and purchase something of real value, silver and gold and older coins!

thgdriver,
I have bought thousands of dollars in coins and paper money from Coast To Coast coins over the last six years. In fact, I use their catalog as a guide when buying on E-Bay. I returned a 1928 Redeemable in Gold FRN 20.00 in all that time. A prompt apology and refund was quickly given. I just ordered my 2010 Silver Eagles from them.
2010-02-07 09:46:57
grumpy,
no problems here bought from them over 10 years.just bought 2010 eagles, will continue

Jimmee beem,
I have been dealing with coast to coast for a few years now and will say they are a fair company! I haven`t had any problems dealing with them, one time they sent me an incorrect coin, but they promptly corrected the problem! And might I add they are always courteous and nice on the phone.!

steve,
I have purchased coins a couple times from coast to coast coins, but received 1 to 2 grades less than they advertised. not happy. Had same bad experience with L and C coins also. Better off buying coins from a reputable dealer or coin shows. Occasionally on Ebay, where the seller is well established with high quality photo,s.
2010-04-18 22:08:36
DONALD,
I HAVE MUCH SILVER AND MANY COMPLETED COLLECTIONS.I HAVE AT LEAST SENT WELL OVER 11,000 DOLLARS TO THEM IN ONLY THE LAST 3 YEARS,YOUR NEGATIVE VIEWS OF THIS HIGHLY RESPECTED COMPANY INSTANTLY AND ACCURATELY PROVES YOU PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW ***** FROM APPLEBUTTER ABOUT COIN COLLECTING AND IF I MAY BE SO BOLD AS TO RECOMEND THAT YOU DUDES NEED TO COLLECT STUFF YOU CAN BUY AT A GARAGE SALE OR DOLLAR GENERAL.

Bruce Walker,
I have only ordered a few items from Coast to Coast, but with good results. In particular, a recent gold 1916-s Half-Eagle graded AU58 by NGC for $475 which I felt was extremely competitively priced. Had a flawless portrait, the cheek was fully as struck. Just a hint of contact on the fields, arguably an MS62 as the grades around MS60 are not consistent from any of the grading services. A much better dated and mint marked coin for only $50 more than a common date example. As larger dealers go, I consider them the best.
2010-09-01 21:52:55
T,
I can say that I have had good and bad experiences with coast to coast coins. I have bought some really nice coins from them in addition to bullion. However, I have bought coins that were not up to grade and the company did not want to make this right. Buyer beware, and know what you want before ordering.
2010-11-18 22:13:02
Alxvin,
Buying from them since 2005 (the place is in Columbia, MD - right?) : never had a problem
2010-12-22 01:57:39
DarkStar,
I bought a large number of silver commemoratives from Coast, all described as Gem Brilliant. I sent them in for grading and all of them were returned as Details - Improperly cleaned. I called them and they said it was just a discrepancy in grading and would not offer replacments
2011-01-03 11:11:37
Ironman,
A top quality company like this one knows better than to clean coins or they wouldn't be in business. I got over 10 years with them and they have never disappointed me.
2011-01-18 06:59:05
dan,
COAST ROCKS!!!!!! GREAT QUALITY AND SERVICE 5 YEARS . wHY DON'T YOU COMPLAINERS JUST SHOP ELSEWHERE. i SUPPOSE YOU WANT FREE SHIPPING TOO. t213X4VRY ebay. lol

E,
Never a problem with Coast to Coast Coins...with several thousand coins in my collection I learned some key steps when buying coins online. Check carefully before buying by comparing prices and grades of the coin with other sites and use the "Red Book"...educate yourself...you normally get what you pay for!
2011-02-22 12:44:43
glenn,
I also have used this company for my silver needs and have always gotten what i paid for and more! Last shipment they forgot a coin or were out of stock , anyway i hadn't noticed it and 2 days later it came in the mail! I didn't even need to call them. Ya there straight up !
2011-03-03 17:44:47
pete,
No criticism intended but instead, an observation.
With few exceptions, non-professionals in this business really should stick to coins that have been graded by
one of the major firms (aka slabbed). While not perfect, these companies not only provide accurate grading on which to confidently assess price legitimacy; they also authenticate and, in some cases,
guarantee their work. ....PRICELESS!
2011-03-30 18:07:22
Big Dave,
I have been buying coins and paper money from Coast to Coast for almost 20 years. Had no real problems with grading or service. They have always treated me very well and in a professional manner.
A very good company.
2011-04-22 16:10:00
Will,
Seems like almost every time someone complains about Coast to Coast coins, someone else says bad things about that person. Do these people attackers work for or own stock in the company? This forum should stick to the issue, is Coast to Coast a good company to deal with. It should not be used to bad mouth individuals who submit there comments.
2011-04-28 15:18:05
Disappointed,
Most of you sound very fortunate. I, on the other hand, recently had similar problems with Coast to Coast as outlined in the original post. I admit I only gave them two chances, but I won't buy from them again.
2011-04-30 10:34:07
R U Kidding?,
So anyone can comment here by typing in a guest name? You would have to be a total idiot to believe that the avalanche of posts defending coast to coast AND bashing the original posters are written by real collecters, and not by C2C themselves. Really not even subtle about it, either. Only 2 types of dealers take out huge full/multi-page ads in coin world: very high end, and hustlers. Next I'm sure will come a plethora of post about all the fabulously rare and expensive coins various 'collectors' have bought from them over the years.

Cc,
You people who collect from a dealer like c2c . Should have your brains examined, If you were a real collector common sense would tell you not to buy from a dealer who charges atronomical prices from a dealer. Ive never bought from them and I know better not to so the fools that are giving these unfortunate victims hard time need to throw out their collections and start over poor souls.

You people who collect from a dealer like c2c . Should have your brains examined, If you were a real collector. Common sense I hope would dictate not buy from the huge coin rip off artists .So the guy who is telling these victims in bold letters apparrently just to hands over his hard earned green for coins that don't give any numismatic value per dollar spent ,aparrently should throw his collection out .Remember you want high grade, high quality and superb eye appeal for the least amount of money .I would never buy from a company like these . So when people get vitimized like this . It just shows that their integrity is not too up snuff.

Gabe,
I have been buying coins from this company since 5 years ago and I've never had any problems.
2011-05-29 01:16:42
brad ,

2011-06-13 14:11:21
WUSER THAN U,
Just another scam operation....avoid, or you will be pissed and commenting next. I buy on-site, if I can touch it,,,,its real

Lou of Concord CA,
I bought some coins form C2C and did not think they were what was claimed grade wise but I did not try to return them and now could actually make money on them because the price of silver is up
2011-07-18 17:47:39
David,
I am a repeat customer form this company...Never had any problems and have been happy with all orders.
2011-07-30 10:09:53
jay,
I believe this company has a fair return policy. I think you complainers ought to just shop elsewhere. Goodness nobody forced you to buy from them . I know the mentality of you complainers. You folks should really try a new hobby. Like coupon clipping. It's free.
2011-08-23 21:28:23
Larry,
I've gotten some nice items for Coast To Coast. But, I have also returned a few items.

How can you loose when you can return an item you don't like? That sure seems fair, to me.

Common sense says, if I return most items from a particular dealer, I quit dealing with them. But Coast to Coast has been OK, most of the time.

If you don't like to shop by mail, go to coin shops and coin shows. Then, you see the item before you buy it.
2011-08-31 20:05:24
Rick,
I almost got ripped off too. I tried to buy a 1955 DD
I was told was in stock and no the way, several weeks latter was told they were still looking for one in the market place, my credit card was charged for something they never had. I would avoid this business
At all costs.
2011-10-09 22:25:15
Peter,
I have has issues with what's called
"Bait and switch" ever wonder why sometimes the coin
You want is not ever pictured? Be careful!

2011-10-09 23:03:30
Kevin,
This company wasted my time for days and finally canceled my order. Wondering why I searched the internet to find that they were pulling the common arbitrage scam. They held my order for as long as possible and because it was a bullion order and bullion prices had increased considerably, they fabricated a reason to cancel my order. They claimed it was an issue with my credit card company. I called my credit card company and it was absolutely untrue. No need to believe one person's opinion. Spend 3 minutes on google and you'll find many many complaints about this company. I wish I had done that before wasting my time and money.
2011-10-26 13:49:19
Kevin,
Regarding the posts above defending the Coast Coin scam artists, think about it. If you bought something and were satisfied with it, why would you come to rippedoffonline and start an argument with a stranger? Nice try Coast Coin. Not at all a suprising tactic for such a scammy company.
2011-10-26 14:34:22
John S.,
I duplicate ordered several coins and attemplted to return them. I was told there is a 14 day return privlege and I was beyond that time, so no luck. No place on their website or invoices does it mention a 14 day period for returns, only that returns must be accompnaied by an invoice. They need to spell out what there policy is in writing on the web and invoices. Deceptive at best.
2012-01-24 12:56:02
ROO Ed,
Small claims court would solve this if the 14 day return policy is not on the receipt. You might want to check this out as an option. You just have to as yourself; is it worth the time involved for what you will get in return. Maybe try selling the coins on eBay?
