FTD.com is a Nightmare/Buyers Beware

Warning!!!  Do NOT ever order flowers through this company.  My husband ordered flowers a week before Valentines Day to be delivered to my office on Valentines Day.  I always get flowers so wondered what was taking so long.  The flowers were NEVER delivered.  When my husband called the 800# to cancel after I was home from work the wait was 30 minutes or longer.  He tried contacting them via email but that just went into a black hole and we never got a reply.  They never called to apologize, credit our account, nothing.  I finally got through today (the day after VDay) and told them not to bother delivering and to immediately credit our account.  The customer service rep proceeds to say it will take up to 5 days to see the credit.

Disappointing women  on Valentine's Day is just wrong and they continue to get away with it.

I am an FTD florist and agree FTD is unable to provide the personal service a real florist can. A local florist will ask the right questions, know the area, tell you what is in stock, can call/text the driver for ETA's, and much more. These are things we, local florists, do for our customers while FTD is selling ads on Google promising the proverbial flower world without the sender realizing FTD does not buy, make or deliver any flowers, ever. The work is done by local florists with integrity that is not seen nor understood by the consumer. It is 2/16/2011, 2 days after Valentine's Day, and this florist is thinking about how much time got wasted on bad addresses. What is a bad address? There are many: the very common missing Apt. #, "Central Ct." not "Central St.", or the accidental transposed street #, or the many senders who forget to mention its a business) which is a different delivery priority than a residential delivery, and the business name/suite # is paramount since many businesses don't put up street numbers and many businesses share buildings making the information essential. And a bad phone number or transposed phone # or the senders # is given and so on and so on. In this example imagine being the florist with these same delivery issues over and over and then getting the sender on the phone? Someone answers and you explain "we are trying to deliver flowers to you but the address is"... and it never fails the sender always says, "I didn't give the phone # cause I didn't want to spoil the surprise."? "If we cannot get the flowers there how will there be a surprise. What is the apt# genius?" is what I wanna say and why? FTD.com does ask for the recipient phone number, there is a field to include the business name, an area for special instructions, but in a hurry it might be missed-we all make mistakes. None the less when supplied with missing or wrong information we have to ask (in an "ASK" message its called) FTD because we cannot ask the sender directly. It can take hours, a day or more for FTD to respond to an "ASK" message from a florist.
I just am wondering after reading this post what the exact issue was with why this delivery did not occur? As a florist I can only imagine is there an "ASK" message out on your order for more information that will soon be cancelled because FTD never read the florist message detailing the problem? There may be some florist who still must pay the designer, the driver, the cost of goods, along with logistics & routing of the delivery, and the gas. In any case, I have seen it all and I have been an Engineer, a mortician, a Peer Counselor, A Dicing and Polishing Technician for OIEC's and I have worked with the Developmentally disabled.
I never thought delivering flowers would be sooooo hard when we opened ur family flower shop? But I realizes we, florists, are delivering emotions not flowers and that is a philosophy and an approach at integrity that FTD can never measure up to. P.S. FTD means, Forget That Delivery.
